About Randal Cox

I have been involved with photography for the better part of my life. My interest in all things photographic spans nearly my entire lifetime. My chosen formal education allows me to see the world through a viewfinder and to define the boundaries of an image. My Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio-Television-Film Production and minor degree in Technical Theatre provide a strong foundation to understand picture composition. I understand viewing a scene through a camera lens as compared to viewing it through human eyes.

Through my formal education, I can compose an image, either through a video or a film viewfinder, and can analyze the visual elements of a play in the frame of the proscenium arch.

The idea that no two photographs are ever the same appeals to me on many levels. Each image is a moment in time which can never be precisely duplicated. You, as well as the 'next' photograph, are never the same as you were while capturing the first one, even though the difference can be miniscule. There is something very intriguing and oddly grounding about this concept.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to capture these moments in time by creating images for weddings, special events, theatre and play promotions, advertising work for local magazines, actors' headshots, and portraiture. I've shot landscape, real estate investment/promotion, travel, industrial, and product photography.

I thrive on photographing these various subjects and using the camera as a creative tool. I utilize my experiences in life to mold and shape the final images. That's the exciting part - - pushing myself to do something else, something new, something that creates that moment for myself and my client.
